Before having a baby, a changing station probably means a beautifully organised change table in a nursery 🧸

After having a baby? The back seat is a changing station. The pram is a changing station. Grandma's house is a changing station. Sometimes anywhere with a vaguely flat surface becomes a changing station 😅

The trick is having everything within reach. Here's how to build one you can take anywhere.

Start with the essentials ✅

You don't need to bring the whole nursery. A basic changing kit includes:

  • Nappies
  • Baby wipes
  • Portable changing mat
  • Nappy cream
  • Bags for dirty nappies and clothes
  • Hand sanitiser
  • At least one spare outfit

For younger babies, an extra bodysuit is almost always worth the space.

Keep it all together 🎒

This is where bag organisation makes all the difference.

Instead of nappies in one pocket, wipes somewhere at the bottom and the spare onesie mysteriously vanishing, create a dedicated changing section.

The Nappy Buddy is built for exactly this. It's a belt bag with a reusable change mat and a refillable wipes case, so your whole changing kit lives in one spot you can wear. The Mum Club Crossbody and Anywhere Backpack both have a wipes dispenser too, so you can pull a wipe with one hand while the other is holding a wriggling baby 🙌

Create a mini car changing station 🚗

If you drive with your baby regularly, keep a backup kit in the car.

A small organiser with nappies, wipes, disposable bags and a change of clothes can save you when the main bag hasn't been restocked. Just update clothing sizes as your baby grows, and avoid leaving products in the car if their storage instructions aren't suited to heat ☀️

Restock when you get home 🔁

This is the least exciting tip, but probably the most useful.

As soon as you're home, replace anything you used.

  • Two nappies used? Put two back.
  • Spare outfit in the laundry? Replace it.
  • Wipes running low? Swap in a fresh pack.

Future you will be very grateful when you're already running ten minutes late.

It doesn't need to be perfect 🤍

You don't need every baby product you've ever bought with you every time you leave the house. You just need a simple system that works for your family.

Pack the essentials, keep them organised and restock regularly. Then whether the next change happens in a beautiful parents' room or the back of the car, you're ready 🙌

🤍 Huddo tip: Keep a spare outfit in a zip bag with a second bag for the dirty clothes. One grab, one swap, done.
